Digital Print Series: Discover new possibilities in the field of visual communications
The special features of the Digital Printing Series laser engraving material
There are no limits for the creative design of digital printing series laser engraving plastic sheets. The Trotec Digital Print Series opens the door to a new combination of printing, laser engraving and laser cutting processes, with the special feature of this product being the high-quality, long-term binding of the printing colour due to the pre-treatment, meaning no primer is required.
Alongside the SP3000 laser cutting machine the Trotec Digital Print Series of laser engraving plastic sheets were awarded with the prestigious European Digital Press Association (EDP) award at FESPA in Hamburg, Germany. During the event we performed material tests with leading global printing companys including AGFA and Mimaki.
- Ink-receptive surface of the laser engraving plastic offers better bonding of digital print
- Both the film and core produce excellent results when laser engraved or cut, akin to our TroLase engraving laminate
- A wide range of colours available, including various metallic finishes, which can be incorporated in the print design
Generally you prepare your print data as usual. If you are using white-printing, an additional layer which is pre-printed onto your material, it is not possible to achieve structural effects such as a brushed or a metallic surface in your design.
This happens as “white” is not printed as a colour. If “white” is included in the desired image, this area is left out and will remain translucent.
Tip: Clarify your special printing requirements directly with your preferred printing shop.
The basic characteristics of the Digital Print Series laser engraving plastic are the same as the TroLase engraving laminate range. You can use your exisiting engraving and cutting parameters when processing this material or use our recommended standard parameters.
For a precise cut of your application use the JobControl® Vision camera system to identify printed registration marks. We recommend adding a white edge to the printed registration marks if they are within a dark area of the print. This makes it is possible to cut the whole printing plate and individually personalise the engraving for your customers.
